Notes:

• Very few of the Ordinances enacted in the period covered by this book had short titles defined in the Ordinance. In the absence of a defined short title the Ordinances would have been referred to by reference to the year in which they were enacted and the number given to the Ordinance in the sequence of Ordinances enacted in that year. A reference to the subject matter may have been made. In other words something along the lines of “The third Ordinance of 1876 relating to Summary Jurisdiction.”
• The Ordinances are published in the order the chronological order they appear in The Laws and Ordinances of the Falkland Islands from the settlement of the colony to the year 1884.’
• The files names given to each Ordinance are of the following style:

  [year]: [number]: [title]

  Where:

  [year] is the year the Ordinance was enacted;
  [number] is the number in the sequence of Ordinances enacted in the year; and
  [title] is either:

  – the short title defined in the Ordinance;
  – the informal short title given to the Ordinance in the book; or
  – a convenient short title created to assist publication electronically.
