In this period no Falkland Islands Ordinance applied in the Dependencies unless there was a separate law of the Dependencies applying the law there.

The Dependencies Ordinances applying the Falkland Islands Ordinances in the Dependencies were typically entitled ‘Application of Colony Laws Ordinances [year]’ and have, understandably become known as ‘ACLOs.’  These ACLOs should not be confused with the Application of Colony Laws Ordinance (Cap 1 DS) which should be considered as well as it is this Ordinance that provides the essential rules of construction for Falkland Islands laws being applied via a Dependencies Ordinance such as an ACLO!
